A St. Jude’s Christmas Story
I have news, and it involves a hostage crisis, a hospital Christmas party nobody asked for, and a trauma surgeon in reindeer socks.
Jax Hard is a brand-new holiday short starring Max and Jax from Bedside Manner, and it lands on Friday, December 11, just in time for your Christmas reading pile. It’s a love letter to my favourite Christmas movie (yes, it counts, and Jax will fight you about it). I wrote it to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever published. I think I succeeded.
Four bargain-bin mercenaries. One hostage-taker with a grudge. One trauma surgeon in reindeer socks.Dr. Jax O’Connell has watched Die Hard every Christmas Eve since he was eleven. This year, for their first Christmas as a married couple, his husband Max has finally agreed to watch it with him. Facing the screen. For at least the first act. Then the lights go red.St. Jude’s has been taken hostage by a man with a grudge, a gun and a PowerPoint. He has the night staff. He has Mama Ortiz. And he has Max.What he doesn’t have is Jax: barefoot, unarmed, somewhere in the ceiling, and frankly having the best night of his life.
Where it fits: Jax Hard takes place before The Twin Clause, during Max and Jax’s first Christmas as husbands. You can read it as a standalone, but if you’ve read Bedside Manner, you may recognize a few familiar faces. One of them very much wishes you didn’t.
Preorders open soon. I’ll share the cover and the preorder link here and in my newsletter the moment they’re live. If you’re not subscribed yet, sign up here and you’ll get two free novellas while you wait.
Merry almost-Christmas,
